Selling a QLD registered car in NSW-Saftey Inspection
« on: March 04, 2010, 02:32:04 PM »

Hi, I wish to sell my car, which has 3months of QLD rego left, in Sydney.

I have the rego document in my name and the yellow part of the QLD safety inspection certificate, completed just before I bought the car.

I understand that whoever buys the car will have to go to QLD in 14days to register to their name but, from what I understand, in QLD, you need to have a fresh safety inspection done before u try to sell, and have to display it in the window.

What happens if I want to sell the car in Sydney, can I get a safety inspection there that will count in QLD?

Can I just sell the car as is with the yellow slip I have?

I had originally planned to return to QLD to sell the car before I leave Australia, to make it all easier. However, I have a good job in Sydney that I would like to do up until I leave on the 22ndMar2010. Times running out..not sure if I should just head to Brisbane, get Safety Chk, Sell car, fly back to Sydney to fly back to UK, or try to sell for less in Sydney and keep working??

Any ideas....much appreciated!!

Sorry for the slow reply, somehow I missed this one  Embarrassed

You can get a blue slip in NSW and transfer the QLD registration to a NSW registration.

The NSW blue slip does not count in QLD, so it must be registered here.
