Hi,

We have just arrived in Australia and are likely to get stuck in the web of couloured slips, rego's   etc etc. We have the following questions:
1. If we buy a car in Perth that is WA registered, and we want to sell it in Queensland, what kind of difficulties will that bring?
1a. Can people in Queensland purchase a WA registered car easily and have it registered on their name (via internet)?
1b.Or does the car need to have a new Queensland registration for them to buy it?

Here is the good news! :

1. If you buy a WA registered car, you are buying a car with the easiest to transfer rego
What this basically means is that this car can be sold in any state, without the need for an inspection and transfer can be done via the Internet.

1a. The answer is yes, with an important point to know. If you sell to someone who lives in QLD, i.e. not a traveller, they will need to register the car in QLD. If the person is a traveller (backpacker), then they can just register it and go travelling!

1b. As stated, the car will only need to be re-registed in QLD if the person buying it is living in QLD as a resident. (i.e. they are a local)
