IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL A QLD CAR WITHOUT A VALID SAFETY CERTIFICATE ($500 FINE)

A SAFETY CERTIFICATE IS VALID FOR 2 MONTHS FROM THE TIME OF TEST OR 2,000KM'S - WHICH EVER COMES 1ST

If you need to sell or buy a QLD registered car outside QLD and you don't have a valid QLD safety certificate, the owner must de-register the car, so that the new owner can re-register it in the state where you purchase it.

To de-register the car, you need to fill out the QLD de-registration form and hand in the plates to the local registration office. (example RTA in NSW)

Now your car is illegal to be on the street!!!!

So only do this when you are fully prepared to re-register the car in the state you are in!

Obviously, it is much easier to sell or buy a QLD car in QLD ...  Undecided
