I arrived in Australia at the end of July 2010 and bought my trusty Ford Laser in Cairns for $2200 (I have paperwork to verify this). The car has brought me all the way down the east coast and has plenty of life left in it yet. If you are a backpacker looking for a car to travel in or are just looking for a cheap car, this could be the one for you! Key points:

*Registered in Queensland - rego expires end of January 2011
*Bought from a used car garage in Cairns - the car was fully serviced before it was sold to me
*Road Worthy Certificate supplied
*Certificate of registered security interest (proves car isn't stolen)
* Log book
* New fuel pump - October 2010
*3 new tyres (bought August 2010 & I can provide receipts)
*A new radiator was fitted just before I bought the car
*New oil, transmission fluid and coolant - August 2010
*Low mileage for age (207000km = only 10,000 per year)
*Very fuel efficient - about $40 fills the tank up and this lasts for ages
*2 keys provided
*Spare tyre (looks new), wrench and jack provided
*The car was previously owned by a local Cairns lady so this was its first foray into the world of travel meaning it hasn't been maintained on a backackers budget
*Well known brand (Ford) so spare parts are easy to find if necessary
*Spacious boot and plenty of room in the back
*Radio and tape player
*Automatic transmission means its easy to drive (you always have a spare hand for coffee drinking!)
*Air conditioning and eco mode
*Reliable and easy to drive
The paintwork is a bit faded but I think this is to be expected with an older car. The engine runs well and is nice and clean - even the mechanic who worked on the fuel pump said so!

I am now living in Sydney (Pyrmont-near Darling Harbour) so if you fancy a look or test drive then get in touch and we can arrange something. I work full time during the week but can meet up on evenings or the weekend. I will be sad to sell my car but am returning to the UK.
